Aromatherapy
uses essential oils extracted from plants and flowers to
heal. Essential oils contain naturally occurring
vitamins, minerals, hormones, antibiotics and
antiseptics that are used to fortify the function of
internal organs and boost the body's immune system.
While essential oils may be used in a variety of ways,
they are most frequently mixed with oil and applied to
the skin in the form of an Aromatherapy massage. This
addition to the massage enhances the therapeutic and
uplifting benefits.
There are hundreds of different scents which represent
different (although sometimes similar) aspects. For
example, Lavender is considered to be relaxing to both
the nervous and the muscular system. It is reputed to be
good for headaches as well. Peppermint, on the other
hand, is stimulating particularly to the digestion
system. Clary Sage is reputed to be helpful for hot
flashes, hormonal balance and finding clarity in
thought.
If you would like to turn your massage into an
Aromatherapy session, after a few minutes of discussion
two or three scents will be chosen to incorporate into
your session.
